Intellectual Property
eMagin has developed a significant intellectual property portfolio of patents, trade secrets and know-how, supported by its license from Eastman Kodak Company and its current patent portfolio.
The Kodak license gives eMagin the right to use in miniature displays a portfolio in OLED and optics technologies some of which are fundamental. eMagin’s agreement with Kodak provides for perpetual access to the OLED technology for OLED-on-silicon applications. eMagin also generates intellectual property as a result of internal research and development activities.
eMagin’s patents and patent applications cover a wide range of materials, device structures, processes, and fabrication techniques, such as methods of fabricating full color OLEDs. Patents relating to top-emitting structures on opaque substrates such as silicon wafers, which are critical for OLED microdisplays, are particularly important.
eMagin’s patents are concentrated in the following areas:
- OLED Materials, Structures, and Processes;
- Display Color Processing and Sealing;
- Active Matrix Circuit Methodologies and Designs;
- Field Emission and General Display Technologies;
- Lenses and Tracking (Eye and Head);
- Ergonomics and Industrial Design; and
- Wearable Computer Interface Methodology
